Thirty
What I did in my twenties, and what I hope to do in my thirties.
Today I turn thirty. A lot happened in the last ten years, so here's the list.
In the past ten years I:
- finished a diploma in actuarial science at UiTM (2015)
- switched to computer science and got my degree at UiTM (2018)
- started a startup called DeAtkins and watched it fail (2015)
- got bad grades the same year
- did an internship mentored by Silicon Valley developers (2017)
- started freelancing, and it took off
- launched DirectWP (December 2018)
- quit my job to freelance full time and registered my business with SSM (January 2019)
- got my first remote job, as a frontend developer at Skilledd in Singapore
- launched my first side project, 5invite.com (December 2019)
- started a newsletter and a YouTube channel (2020)
- had my best freelance year and hired my first contractors
- lost my grandmother, Tokmi, and was with her until the end (March 2021)
- joined BTO
- got into crypto and NFTs
- joined Gallery Labs as a senior mobile engineer (February 2022)
- moved to Cyberjaya, into my first place of my own (May 2022)
- went to Tokyo twice, plus Bangkok and Singapore
- met my team in person for the first time, in Hawaii
- started DarkroomTCG and Tres Shirt
- took piano lessons
- went to Kaito's wedding in Japan (March 2024)
Career is great, but family is better. I want my next ten years to show that.
In the next ten years I hope to:
- get married and start a family
- be calm and present, and be a great dad
- run an Airbnb
- open a bakery with a coworking space
- spend a month in Europe
- perform Hajj
- get my diving license
- spend Christmas in New York
- become an angel investor
- keep building side projects
See you at forty.
